In my last post, I discussed the holy grail of soccer fitness (run fast, repeatedly, with minimal need for rest). The biggest prerequisite is the ability to run fast. If you aren’t fast, who cares if you’re able to maintain what little speed you have over repeated bouts. I want repeat sprint ability, not repeat slog ability. That said, I saw this great MLS feature on one of the players I have the pleasure of working with that highlights the benefits of speed on the ability to create scoring chances.
