I’ve been a little slow on posting lately to this site as well as some of my others so I figured I’d try to get myself out of my rut by sharing the work of others that I found interesting. Here’s some recent tweets?from Dutch Football Coach Raymond Verheijen. He’s a great follow on twitter for his outspoken tweets and relevant fitness related content:
In Sydney Moyes said: We’ve over-trained Robin this week to build up his fitness’. Tonight he picked up muscle injury http://t.co/tenigZFEbr

It really makes you wonder how these pre-historic training methods can still take place at the highest level. http://t.co/EoU3apY1Sx

The only way to solve this problem in Jurassic Park is to improve education of these dinosaur coaches, fitness clowns & scientific cowboys.

But as long as most dinosaurs are still in denial & ignore how things develop in other countries, nothing will ever change in Jurassic Park.

Obviously, players like RVP should learn to protect themselves better against ‘overtraining’ & ‘punishing training’ http://t.co/m3OvG4YXIG

Hopefully, next generation coaches who do want to make a change in Jurassic Park will get a bigger podium so we get rid of old boys network.

All over the world in pre-season you see the pattern ‘overtraining-fatigue-injuries’. Always avoid accumulation of fatigue in pre-season.

The main objective of pre-season is to have all your players available in training/friendlies every day so you can develop your best team.

And yes – within these strict boundaries of injury free Team Development – the coach tries to make the team as football fit as possible.
