Port Adelaide is regarded as one of the fittest team in?team sports and there sports science and strength and conditioning program is?often held up as a model of best practices. This inside look provides some interesting insights on their pre-season program:

  • Use of monitoring with GPS and heart rate and a full staff to monitor outputs
  • Constant feedback via wireless to coaches on physiological data
  • Looking for the?total distance covered in practice to be 20% greater than what is seen in games
  • Limiting water breaks to 60 seconds and requiring players to run to them
