Fitness Progression for Soccer Players

Progressive overload is one of the most important aspects of sports performance training however it’s often overlooked in an effort to not overtrain or make an athlete sore. This is shortsighted in my opinion. If you’re looking to get stronger, fitter and faster overload has to be present. Thankfully, there are many ways to achieve an overload. The easiest and simplest way to achieve overload is to do more (more weight, more volume), do it faster, do it longer or do it with less rest. Here’s a video of a recent sample pre-season session with the record setting North Carolina Courage where I am asked about how to overload with soccer players.
